Lenae's interest in health and fitness was sparked while coaching kids in the sport of precision jump rope while in high school. Then after several years of Art school (her first love), she switched majors and began her career in Exercise Science. Lenae now specializes in weight loss, corrective & rehab exercise, pre/postnatal fitness, posture improvement, and natural pain reduction. A teacher at heart, she is patient and experienced in working with a wide range of clientele from older adults and children to the special populations. She is currently taking a break from the world of personal training (after 12 years in the business) and is working in her children's school teaching Middle and High School Art, Anatomy & Physiology, and coaching a Jump Rope Team again.

Much of her understanding comes from personal experience. Lenae has battled such things as chronic pain, lactose intolerance, chronic fatigue, IBS, three c-sections, and post pregnancy weight gain, hernias and diastasis recti. Staying in shape and eating healthy has not always been easy. She knows first hand the struggles of living with chronic pain/illness and dealing with excessive weight gain. Her passion is to use her talents and experience to educate and motivate others to live richer and more productive lives, despite whatever mental or physical issues there may be.

Lenae lives with her husband and three little girls in Gainesville, Virginia. In their free time the family enjoys camping, dancing, creating art, and visiting museums and art galleries.

"I was not sure what to expect when I signed up for personal training. The experience turned out to be fabulous! I continued training and have been working out with Lenae for almost 2 years now. Not only do I feel better, I look better and the inches have disappeared. I am grateful for knowing Lenae during a very painful back injury, as she was able to help me exercise my way out of pain. Lenae is very knowledgeable in all aspects of personal fitness, knows countless exercise for each part of the body, and can easily adjust to each client's needs."

"I've been training with Lenae on and off for 2 years now. The first time I trained with her she suggested a certain way of eating. I poo pooed her. I lost some weight but it was very slow going. Last year I managed to lose some more again slow going. Exercise, eating about an 1200-1600 cal diet. Then in Feb. to April I was hit with very bad joint pains and was diagnosed with RA. I was put on medication I stopped exercising and gained it all back plus 10 pounds. So I started again, exercising, strength training and what I thought was a proper diet. Again, I'm training with Lenae, and again she suggested a more clean eating diet. Again, I poo pooed her. Finally, I decided to try it. The first two weeks of the program are pretty strict. No sugar, only certain oils, lots and lots of veggies and good quality protein and carbs. Well, darn if I didn't lose 6 lbs in 1 week. YAY! Lesson here is LISTEN to Lenae." - Lori Dewey

"Lenae was my personal fitness coach when I was a member at Sport & Health! She gave me the best smoothie recipe that I still have to this day. She tells you how it is... for example, she said, and I quote, "You have lazy butt syndrome!" Which sounds awful but what she really meant was that my quadriceps compensated for my gluts which is why I had to modify standard glut exercises for benefit. Lenae was and still is a big part of my life - even if it's just great motivation or seeing her in the neighborhood. Love that girl! Even if she said I had a lazy butt." ;)   -Jennifer Hoskins

Jessica, Mid 30s with several young kids - Lost 11 lbs & 13 inches in her first 6 weeks of training.  E-mail: "I'm soooo happy!! I immediately sent your email with my results to my husband. He is so proud of me. Thank you so so much for this opportunity."

“I worked with Lenae in 2004.  I was the very first client she ever trained...grin. She was the best and I will never forget her.”

*** Update: 2015 "Although I have not seen Lenae in years, I will always have that wonderful memory of being her FIRST client when she was in college working at Fitness First. She has certainly come a long way since those college days. I am thrilled to be working with her again. Hope I can rise to the occasion." - Karen R.

“Before I came to Lenae I had begun to wonder whether I had lost the ability to lose weight. Six weeks and 17 pounds later, all doubts had been erased. I'll always be grateful to her for teaching me that weight loss and weight control are still easily attainable, even in one's 60's!

- Lee May  (Note: Lee lost a total of 20 lbs and was able to get off his blood pressure medications!)

"Not only do you train bodies but you train minds. You are the one we all lean on for strength and determination."  -Candice

"Lenae's personality is incredible. She's not unkind, but is a go-go person and really keeps you moving. She is patient and really understands the psychology of people with disabilities. I don't know what I'm going to do without her when she leaves Salisbury."   -Bill Horn, Polio Survivor

Eric lost 46 lbs and ran a marathon with his sister. He had previously tried "every diet under the sun," but nothing worked for him. He began consultations over the phone and e-mail since he lived 8 hours away from Lenae. After about 5 months, Eric had developed much healthier habits and was greatly enjoying his newfound energy. He now walks 6 miles a day, lifts weights consistently, and has made eating healthy meals way of life. He's ecstatic about his success and loves to share his story.

My Story in Pictures
Been There, Done That...

I entered my one and only fitness show, placing 8th out of 8. lol. But I was so proud I pushed myself to try
something so challenging and WAY out of my comfort zone. It was a great experience.

Then came babies...

This is me with each of my girls at 38 weeks. My body did what it wanted to do and packed on extra weight despite me doing
everything "right".
The last baby was 10.5 lbs!

After three three c-sections,
I was dealing with a severe Diastasis Recti, multiple hernias, and a lot of back and abdominal pain. Rehab was not cutting it
and I ended up needing corrective surgery.

I lost 30 lbs in 4 months doing Healthy Clean Keto and Intermittent Fasting with zero exercise. Most of my inflammation and joint pain vanished within weeks as well! My body loves this plan.

It's currently Summer 2021.
I still have 40 lbs left to go and just started serious strength training again!
I'll keep you posted.
